École 42 has opened another campus in Brazil, this time in Rio de Janeiro — the second in the country, with the first located in São Paulo.
The French programming school, which offers free tuition, has more than 15 branches around the world and a major differentiator: it promotes collaborative and accessible education in programming and technology.
Nicknamed "42," the school has no conventional academic subjects, but instead offers projects so that students can learn through practice, with the support of peers and instructors.
The program consists of 21 modules with different levels of learning and can last up to three years. The duration depends on the time invested by the students themselves, as the institution operates 24 hours a day.
Participants learn about Artificial Intelligence, Networking, Functional Programming, Security, Unix, Ruby, and more.
42 follows a distinctive selection methodology. Candidates go through online testing stages, an in-person meeting, and even a 28-day immersion program — check all the details and find out how to apply.
Although the focus is on programming, participants also develop social-emotional skills and gain exposure to the technology job market. École 42 maintains close relationships with major companies across various sectors to provide employment opportunities.
This is a trend also observed beyond 42. Startups are increasingly offering free (or more affordable) courses to drive professional development in technology careers.
Neon also offers a similar initiative for women, focused on systems development and operations. Enrollment for the courses is open!
Do you know of other programming and technology education initiatives? We will be covering all the major trends at the EdTech Conference 2020 — check it out! 😉
