I Want to Start a Business — What Are My Options?

With the new year and fresh resolutions for 2020, many people find themselves questioning the direction of their careers. In this week's podcast episode, we address exactly those concerns. I want to start a business — now what?

Being an entrepreneur means being willing to take risks. We can identify an entrepreneur as a curious, hands-on, and restless person — in the sense of always seeking new alternatives and possibilities until reaching (or coming very close to) their ideal — challenge driven, a problem solver, and above all, someone who works with a great deal of autonomy.

The first step is to recognize your purpose. What motivates you, what drives you forward? It is worth remembering that purpose is not always tied to a social cause — it can be tied to a pain point that needs to be solved.

You can, of course, create a startup, with a vision of scalability, a market pain point, and validation of the problem you intend to solve. And that requires considerable dedication until the business is validated.

You can also opt for a Lifestyle Business — a less scalable business model, but one that generates its dividends. However, there is also an option for those who have not yet found the courage to quit their job or have not yet found their path.

Have you considered becoming an intrapreneur?

What about working within the company you are already at, seeking new alternatives, solving problems, improving processes, opening new channels, and more?
