In Practice, Theory Is Different: Learn from Those Who Do

There is no better way to learn anything in life than through examples. And this applies to business as well.

Statistically, most of the problems faced by those who start or run a business are common to everyone.

That is why, when you exchange experiences with someone who has faced the same challenges — and overcome them —, you have the opportunity to make a leap forward.

There is a Chinese proverb that says: “If you want to cut down a tree in half the time, spend twice the time sharpening the axe“.

In other words, learn from those who have already conquered that same challenge and surpass it in less time and with less effort.

I am certain that my growth as a person — and as an entrepreneur — happened largely through the relationships I built with my mentors. I had 30-minute conversations that were worth more than an MBA.

It was during that time that I developed something I called the Everest Theory. A very small number of climbers who dare to attempt it actually reach the summit. But of those who reach it and return safely, the vast majority go back another 8 times throughout their lives.

Therefore, if I ever decide to climb Everest, I will do so alongside someone who has already conquered the mountain. That person knows the obstacles, knows how to overcome them, and can guide me through the rocks.
