Five years after the beginning of Brazil's economic downturn, no productive sector has fully recovered since then.
Construction, in particular, in the slowest recovery in Brazil's history, is still 27 percent below the levels recorded at the beginning of 2014, the year the recession began…
However, all signs indicate that 2020 will finally be the year the sector rises from the ashes and rewards professionals who are ready (meaning up to date) to reach new heights…
— After twenty consecutive quarters of decline, the construction market grew 2 percent in the second quarter of this year. The reheating of construction projects boosted investments, which advanced 5.2 percent compared to the second quarter of last year;
— The number of people employed in the sector grew 0.9 percent in the second quarter of this year. According to IBGE, this was driven by a 10.7 percent increase in credit for housing financing;
— Meanwhile, the Sindicato da Indústria da Construção Civil do Estado de São Paulo (Sinduscon-SP) has just reported that the construction sector's GDP in the country is expected to close 2019 with 2 percent growth compared to 2018, ending the series of declines that have haunted industry professionals since 2014;
— Furthermore, according to data from Revista Exame, with the reheating of the real estate sector, construction machinery sales are expected to close 2019 with a 37 percent increase;
— To add to this, the Construction Confidence Index (ICST) calculated by FGV/IBRE reached 84.7 in November, the highest level the index has reached since January 2015.
Every indication points to the coming years being the best for the Construction industry since the recession began. In 2020, the GDP growth forecast already points to 3 percent.
With a landscape that promises to become as favorable as before, professionals working in this industry only need to make sure of one thing: that they are properly qualified and up to speed with the sector's new technologies and demands.
We at StartSe know that acquiring such specific knowledge about this industry, especially when it comes to technology, is no easy task here in Brazil compared to other parts of the world.
And that is exactly why we have already begun pre-selling tickets for the ConstruTech Conference 2020, the only event in the country that connects industry professionals with the most innovative technologies in Construction at a global level.

A very impactful event — anyone who wants a place in the future of construction must attend Construtech!

A great deal of content is absorbed in a short time, and that makes all the difference when we realize that 24 hours are no longer enough to stay connected with what is happening in the world. The event solves that in a single day!

Knowing where the engineering and construction market is headed in light of new technologies is of paramount importance for anyone in the field.

It is worth keeping up with the changes — they are inevitable. The greater the resistance, the greater the toll, both financially and emotionally. The construction sector in Brazil is quite conservative and monopolized; a few players dictate many of the rules everyone must follow.

Talking about change and innovation is easy, but you not only opened my mind to what is new but also gave great insights on how to start making it happen. The language is clear and the content very engaging. Thank you!

The 2020 edition will take place at the beginning of the year in São Paulo, on February 12th, from 9am to 6pm.
In this third edition, we will show you why 2020 is the year of Reinvention for the Construction Industry… and also how new technologies (still not widely adopted) and shifts in consumer habits can increase the operational efficiency of industry professionals.
We will bring together the most innovative professionals in the market and the largest Construction startup fair, all in one place, providing extremely high-quality networking for everyone in attendance.
Some of the topics that will be covered:
— What new consumer habits will affect the sector (and how you can take advantage of them);
— How to use new technologies to improve your operational efficiency and amplify your results;
— The new digital workflow that will guide the entire Construction Industry in the years ahead;
— Real Estate As A Service: the new business model that is revolutionizing the real estate sector (and how it can increase your earnings);
— Modular construction: how to apply this new technique that is optimizing operations, raising safety standards, and adding greater quality to projects.
In a sector still considered one of the most innovation-laggard in the world, we can guarantee that the professionals and companies that know how to leverage the technologies we will present at the event will gain a significant competitive advantage in the market.
