Partners… to have or not to have, that is the question

Whether or not to have partners in a business is not an easy decision.

Especially given that disagreements between partners are the leading cause of business failure.

On the other hand, having partners can be fundamental to the success of a business, considering the capabilities these new people bring to help you build the company.

At StartSe, out of a total of 65 employees, 23 are partners. They chose to adopt a fully meritocratic management model, in which people who deliver consistent and meaningful results, making the company better and larger, are deserving of a share in it.

They created a Partnership model based on other existing models in the market. They adapted it to their reality and say they are confident it has been the best decision they have made so far.

No employee is as dedicated as a partner. Empowering people and allowing them to have an “ownership mindset” makes them even more committed to the company's costs and results.

Of course, for this model to work, certain rules and agreements need to be established.

It is important to have the support of a legal framework that creates legal instruments to resolve any disputes. But the overall balance is very positive.

In their case, they managed to grow the company many times over in the last 4 years.

They reached very high revenue and valuation figures relative to their time in existence. And they credit most of these achievements to this management model.

In this model, people can achieve their personal and professional goals, attain financial independence, and accumulate invaluable experience.
